About PWLBforecastThis page as text

When you may need to borrow, and how much, straight from your bank statements.

Load a few years of bank statements. Every line is sorted, the patterns are found, and a two-year daily cash forecast comes back for you to check line by line, with options to discuss and a committee-ready report. Each morning's statement keeps it current.

Why it exists

Your bank statements already hold the forecast.

Every payment, its amount and its timing is there, year after year. Turning that into a forecast by hand takes days, and keeping it current takes more.

Built from your bank statements

Every line of the forecast is worked out from your own statements: what was paid, when, and how it has grown.

Checked, line by line

Nothing reaches the forecast until someone has looked at it. Each line shows what was found and what is proposed.

Measured against what happened

Sign a forecast off and it is kept as it stood, then compared with what actually happens, month by month.

How it works

Every step can be checked.

Every number comes from your own statements or from something you entered. The rules that sort them are plain and visible, and each line shows where it came from.

History: Once, then topped up

Load three to five years of bank statements, as your bank exports them. Every line is sorted by clear rules; the few it is unsure of, you confirm once and it remembers.

Forecast: Build it, check it, sign it off

Each line is proposed from your history. Check it, add what history cannot know (a land sale, a pay award, your deal register) and sign it off.

Today's statement: Each morning

Drop in the day's statement. It is sorted in seconds, joins your history, and is checked against the forecast you signed off.

Monitor: Whenever you like

Every signed-off forecast against what actually happened, month by month, with what it got wrong and why.

What it is worth to an authority

The judgement stays yours.

The legwork is done for you: sorting the bank lines, finding the pattern in each, and keeping it current.

The need, and when

How much you may need to borrow, by when, and whether it lasts beyond a year or recovers within it.

Options to discuss

Borrowing, loans falling due, LOBO call dates and cash available to invest for longer, worked from your forecast and your deal register.

A committee-ready report

Seven pages for your section 151 officer, and Excel with every number behind it.

Made for councils

It knows the shape of a council's year: council tax in ten instalments, precepts, grants, and payroll on the last working day.

Coming soon to PWLBtoday.

Sign up and you'll be the first to hear when it opens. You can try it on an example council in five minutes, before you load your own statements.

What it does not claim. A forecast is an estimate, and the options are for discussion, not advice. The forecast you sign off is your authority's, and decisions sit with your section 151 officer and your treasury management strategy. Rates and counterparty limits are not checked.
