How will you give us your loans and investments?
You can link a deal list later. It replaces what you’ve typed, and Undo brings that back.
Use an Excel deal list
One workbook for every investment and loan you hold, and your projections. Link it here and the sums are done for you, and your report gets far more analysis.
- 1Download the template, or use the one you keep.
- 2Add a row for each loan and investment, and your projections, in Excel.
- 3Link it here. Holdings, and Projections when the workbook has them, are filled in from it and locked. You change those figures in Excel and read it again.
Linking a deal list replaces the figures you’ve typed. Undo brings them back.
Type them on screen
Enter your loans, investments and projections by hand in the next steps. Fine for a first draft or a small book.
Without a deal list there are no deal charts and no appendix of deals.
Why we recommend an Excel deal list
On its own, in Excel
- A row per deal, with drop-downs, and a mistake marked as you type
- A dashboard of charts, and what you hold on any date: every loan and investment with its principal and rate
- The liability benchmark and the Code’s charts, drawn from your projections
With this tool
- What you hold and both maturity grids filled in for you, with weighted rates; with projections in the workbook, the figures grid too
- More in your report: investment and borrowing charts, the year ends ahead, the period’s activity with income and rate of return, and an appendix of every deal
Your deal list stays on your own computer. The tool reads it in your browser and never changes it. It keeps a copy of the rows it read with your report, in your PWLBtoday account.
Report details
What the report is, what goes on its front page (the council's logo, the date and the author), and its deal list.
Your deal list
The workbook this report reads. It stays on your own computer: the tool reads it in your browser, never changes it, and fills the holdings, the projections and the draft from it.
With a deal list in use the report is the full detail: every chart in the draft. The holdings and maturity grids on step 2 are filled from the deal list and locked while it is in use — change the workbook and re-read it, or remove the deal list to type by hand — and with a projection in the workbook the figures grid on step 3 and the council housing choice here are locked the same way. The deals dashboard is made on step 2, the projections dashboard on step 3. The deal list’s charts are on the tabs beside Debt and Investments: investments, borrowing, the year ends and the months ahead, and the period’s activity.
The workbook stays on your own computer. Your report keeps a copy of the rows it read, in your PWLBtoday account, so the file is not needed to open the report again.

These charts come from your Excel deal list
You’re missing out on part of PWLBreports. Link your deal list and it draws your investment and borrowing charts, the year ends and the months ahead, and the period’s activity from your own deals, fills in your holdings and both maturity grids, and gives your report an appendix of every deal.
Your workbook stays on your computer. The tool only reads it.
